Kitchen Trends we love

There's no question that paint is the easiest way to change the look of your kitchen. Above, walls are painted in Delicate Dove; the beams in Fine Dove and the table has been given a makeover with Delicate Azure, all from the SimplyColour range at Dulux. Retro touches such as the baby blue Smeg fridge, vintage scales and china add some vintage charm to this space. The OTTAVA pendant light from IKEA is pretty much the same as this fisherman's light and costs just €40. Keep an eye out at car boot sales or ebay for scales and check out The Gift Horse for vintage-inspired china.

Don't be afraid to mix materials in your kitchen, there's no rule to say your island unit or worksurfaces have to match your cabinets. This stylish kitchen by Rhatigan & Hick has been hand-painted in a duck egg blue-grey and finished with simple nickel hardware and a gleaming white marble counter top. The Irish oak island table adds warmth and texture to this kitchen, preventing it from looking too cold. Try Farrow & Ball's Parma Grey for a similar shade.

To create a cosy country kitchen the key elements to include are warmth, texture and homely accessories. Beadboard cabinet doors add instant country charm in the kitchen above along with the traditional Belfast sink. We showed you before how you can also re-invent your existing kitchen cabinets using beadboard wallpaper. The check patterned blind above the sink adds colour and the rustic wall-mounted plate rack and kitchen table provide texture and warmth to this quaint country kitchen.

White is still the most popular colour of choice for kitchens as it offers a timeless versatile look. This sleek contemporary style kitchen features handless cabinet doors which is a great option for small kitchens or for people looking for a clutter-free, streamlined look. The bold red wall adds a punch of colour to the space which can easily be changed if you tire of the shade. We love the contrast between those amazing white counter tops and the solid timber floor.

This beautifully styled contemporary kitchen has a professional look with its large stove and top of the range concealed extractor hood. Black gloss cabinets work exceptionally well with walnut counter tops and shelves and offers the perfect balance between modern and country styles. The FAKTUM Abstrakt black gloss cabinet range mixed with the FAKTUM Nexus walnut range from IKEA are good examples of a similar style kitchen. We love the black marble splashback instead of stainless steel panels. Try Marble & Granite Supplies in Dublin for similar solid stone options. The oversized textural pendant and Charles Eames-inspired moulded chair add a real sense of warmth and style to this kitchen. Design Classics Direct sell Eames-inspired moulded plywood chairs just like these.

We would love to hear what you think of these styles. Which is your favourite? Let us know below.
